What began as a quest for honest inspiration has blossomed into a storytelling blog featuring passionate and authentic women. I want to shine a light on women who are successful by being creatively uncompromised - makers, creators, entertainers, artists, teachers. I want to learn where their inspiration comes from, take a look at the road they traveled to get from there to here, and provide a space for their stories to be told.

The stories shared are long and messy, as all good stories are. You’ll find them lightly edited, left as raw and real as possible. The women who tell them don’t fit into clear categories or subscribe to any particular lifestyle. The thread that connects them is their authenticity.

By telling these stories I hope you are inspired, as I am, to find what makes you happy and empowers you to carve your own path, whatever that may be.

square cut batiks

Square Cut is a collaboration between friends Dara Magagnoli and Alanna Parsons. While borrowing the traditional batik process, we bring our own modern take by designing patterns using found objects for printing. To make a batik, selected areas of the cloth are blocked out by brushing, stamping, or drawing hot wax over them, and the cloth is then dyed. The parts covered in wax resist the dye and remain the original color. Our products are all designed, printed, and dyed in small batches in our Brooklyn studio. Each piece is completely unique.
